Charlie Athersmith Rookie dated c1896. Produced by Marcus Cigarettes these are sometimes found overprinted by "Kinnear Limited" or "A.F Doo". These have been dated as c1898 but are more likely 1896 or earlier due to Johnny Campbell & Donald Gow likenesses being used for Sunderland (both left in 1897) and G.O Smith for Casuals and Oxford University (last game 1896). This is one of the first Tobacco Soccer cards issued.
